’s success. Along with the ridiculous barks, like a spray of bullets followed by a “taste democracy” scream, Helldivers 2 also employs gaming’s most eternal comedy gimmick: ragdoll physics. Sometimes a Charger (the aptly named bug that charges at you) will blast you cem feet to safety completely on accident, or maybe your squadmate misplaced a grenade and you see their newly limbless body whip across the screen at the speed of sound.
PvE games are generally single-player, but Helldivers 2 is an exception to that trend. You can play it solo if you'd like to, but it's designed for four players to team up and play it cooperatively.

You can even sneak past encounters if your team moves carefully. You’re all free to decide how you want to spread Managed Democracy: up close and personal, or with tactical oversight.
The good news is that, even if content is light initially, what I played of it was more than enough to get me excited about laughing with friends as we blast our way through killer robots, and I can’t wait to play more.
Playing with strangers can be troublesome, but teamwork is key in Helldivers. Put on a headset and try to communicate with your teammates. You may be surprised at how friendly others can be in the game.

The quality level is high, presenting without obvious aliasing, even on the PS5 in Helldivers 2 Gameplay its performance mode. The clouds are also volumetric in nature, at least at lower levels of the atmosphere, and resolve without distracting artifacting. Low-lying fog also appears to be part of the equation, with ground-level fog often giving planets a certain ethereal quality. Environmental density is impressive. There's a lot of scattered rocks, shrubs, and tufts of grass throughout the various planets. Given the size and scope of the game I have to imagine that procedural systems have been used extensively here, but the final results look quite natural. Foliage in particular can be generously placed, with some especially verdant garden worlds. I did note animation issues with the foliage on at least one planet but on a more macro level, lighting and assets come together to make each world feel distinct, giving each environment some nice vistas.
